Job summary

ADP, Inc. is seeking an Armed Security Officer to maintain a safe environment on client premises. You will patrol interior and exterior areas, control access, respond to incidents, and handle a firearm responsibly in accordance with laws and policies.

You will operate surveillance equipment, document events, and coordinate with law enforcement as needed. Louisiana licensing is required; shift work may include nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Prior security, law enforcement, or military experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

An Armed Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment by monitoring and patrolling premises, preventing unauthorized access, and responding to potential security threats. They are entrusted with carrying a firearm and are trained to handle security incidents professionally while ensuring the safety of people, property, and assets.

Key Responsibilities:

• Patrol Duties: Conduct regular patrols of assigned premises, both inside and outside, to monitor security conditions and detect any suspicious activities or hazards.
• Access Control: Control access to the property by checking identification, issuing visitor passes, and ensuring that only authorized personnel are allowed entry.
• Incident Response: Respond to emergencies, such as alarms, disturbances, or incidents involving trespassing, theft, or violence, taking appropriate action to mitigate risks.
• Firearm Handling: Carry and maintain a firearm, ensuring compliance with all legal and organizational regulations. Use the firearm only when necessary, in accordance with the law, and to protect people and property.
• Security Monitoring: Use security equipment such as surveillance cameras, alarms, and access control systems to monitor the premises for any signs of criminal activity or threats.
• Report Writing: Document incidents, accidents, security breaches, and other important events in detailed, accurate, and timely reports.
• Customer Service: Interact with the public, employees, and visitors in a professional and courteous manner, providing assistance when needed and maintaining a visible, authoritative presence.
• Emergency Procedures: Be prepared to take charge in emergency situations, including evacuations, medical emergencies, or other critical incidents, while coordinating with local authorities when necessary.
• Collaboration: Work with other security officers, law enforcement, and emergency personnel to ensure the security of the site and smooth coordination during incidents.
• Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies, local regulations, and safety procedures at all times. Stay informed on legal requirements related to armed security.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certificates).
• Licensing/Certification: Must meet the LSBPSE requirements to hold an Armed security license in Louisiana.
• Experience: Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military service is preferred but not always required.
• Skills:
  • Ability to remain calm and make decisions under pressure.

  • Physical fitness to patrol and respond to incidents.

Physical Requirements:
