Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree preferred.
• 2 years of MedStar satisfactory performance as a security officer I - armed.
• Exceptions may be considered based on extensive relevant external armed security or law enforcement experience.

Responsibilities

• Contributes to department goals and adheres to policies and safety standards.
• Assists supervisor with daily shift supervision and corrections as needed.
• Mentors security staff and conducts in-service training.
• Assists with training of new associates as necessary.
• Collects and secures patient valuables and lost-and-found articles.
• Patrols facility and monitors security systems and access points.
• Responds to emergencies and security or medical code calls.
• Maintains incident reports and follows up with authorities as needed.
• Uses de-escalation techniques to keep staff and visitors safe.
