Job summary

DelDOT seeks a Constable I, the first level of constable work. These uniformed, sworn Peace Officers carry firearms and have the power of arrest, performing full protection and security duties within court facilities and assisting in serving and executing legal documents.

The position includes monitoring security equipment (CCTV, radios, detectors), coordinating with judicial staff and public, and advancing through department standards to higher levels.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• Six months' experience in security services.
• Six months' experience in record keeping.
• Six months' experience using an automated information system.

Responsibilities

• Perform armed, enforcement, protection and security work.
• Inspect the assigned courtroom and court facility for explosives, firearms, and weapons; search entrants and confiscate weapons.
• Set up, operate, troubleshoot and monitor CCTV, paging systems, wireless mics, audio/visual systems, radios, metal detectors and cameras.
• Communicate with judicial personnel, law enforcement, contracted security and the public to maintain security and control behavior.
