Job summary

Sylvania is seeking an armed Security Officer to safeguard students, staff, and campus facilities in Bernalillo, New Mexico. The role involves patrolling, maintaining security, and coordinating with local police to address threats and incidents.

Ideal candidates will have a NM driver’s license, a high school diploma or GED, and prior law enforcement experience. A current or former peace officer certification is preferred, with excellent observation and de-escalation skills.

Qualifications

• Current New Mexico driver’s license.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Work experience in an educational and/or security setting preferred.
• 5 years’ experience in law enforcement.
• Have no Disciplinary records that resulted in suspension, removal from property.
• Current or formerly certified and commissioned law enforcement officer.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe secure environment for students, staff and guests on campus.
• Detain students suspected of narcotics, tobacco, or alcoholic infractions, as authorized.
• Investigate, review, and report to school administration and law enforcement agencies on incidents as appropriate.
• Patrol and confront unauthorized persons for questioning and checking for passes and identification cards as needed.
• Assist law enforcement officers as directed by school administration.
• Direct traffic and parking on campus and ensure proper parking authorization.
