Job summary

Thomas Jefferson University seeks a committed security professional to safeguard employees, students, visitors, and property on campus. You will patrol buildings and grounds, respond to incidents, and coordinate with local law enforcement and the Emergency Response Team.

The role requires a high school diploma (associate degree preferred), security or military experience, and the ability to work rotating shifts. A valid driver's license and proficiency in Microsoft Office are mandatory.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred.
• Security experience or prior Law Enforcement or Military experience required.
• PA Armed positions only: Police Academy training or Act 501/235F requirements.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
• Patrols Jefferson Buildings and campus areas; checks security of high-risk areas; reports incidents.
• Provides on-campus escorts and writes incident reports before shift end.
• Consults crime victims and facilitates reporting to authorities as needed.
• Interacts with law enforcement authorities for events and testifies in court as required.
• Assigned to security details, VIP protection, and crowd control for events.
• Participates in Emergency Response Team for fires, threats, and life-threatening situations.
• Document all security incidents and enforce visiting regulations.
