Job summary

Robert Morris University seeks a public safety professional to provide security and information services to the University and Island Sports Center communities. This non-sworn, armed role reports to the Director of Public Safety and oversees building access, patrols, and incident response.

The position requires prior police/security experience, a high school diploma, and Act 235 certification. Excellent communication with students, staff, and the public is essential for success.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous police officer experience/security experience required.
• Ability to effectively work and communicate with co-workers and the public, including students, faculty and staff.
• Certification by Pennsylvania State Police for Act #235, Lethal Weapons Act required.

Responsibilities

• Provide public safety and information services to the University community and Island Sports Center.
• Perform security operations including locking/unlocking buildings and monitoring access points.
• Provide communications support for campus police; respond to incidents and requests for assistance.
• Conduct proactive patrols to deter and detect criminal activity or safety issues.
• Document incidents accurately using departmental reports and forms.
