Qualifications

• Excellent communication skills with outstanding presentation, interpersonal, and time management abilities.
• Alabama Professional Educator Certificate is required.
• Bachelor’s degree and advanced coursework or professional development in the science of reading.
• Minimum of two years of successful elementary or literacy teaching experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the principal to create a strategic coaching plan based on data and science of reading.
• Lead school-wide professional development and measure knowledge transfer to practice.
• Model explicit, systematic reading instruction for teachers with detailed explanations and guided practice.
• Coach and mentor teachers daily through planned cycles and gradual release of responsibilities.
• Use data to differentiate instruction and discuss progress in data analysis sessions.
• Support teacher professional learning across multiple areas including ELA and content knowledge.
• Prioritize activities with greatest impact on reading achievement in classrooms.
• Monitor reading progress of students at least three times per year and adjust instruction accordingly.
