Job description

Lakeville Arenas is accepting applications for a Lead Skating Instructor. This position will coordinate and manage the Learn to Skate classes on the ice, serve as point of contact for other instructors when Director and Assistant Director are not available.

Work Schedule: Evenings and Weekends, up to 10 hours per week.


Ensure a successful skating program which results in engaged skaters and program growth. This would include providing instruction in a variety of skate lesson levels and ages.

  • Monitoring the well-being of all participants throughout skate lessons.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment for all skaters.
  • Establish open and active communication with skating director, coaches, skating participants, parents and arenas staff.
  • Ensure program instruction is taught in accordance to the Learn to Skate USA progression program

RELATIONSHIPS AND CONTACTS
Reports to the Arena Program Director – Learn to Skate and works directly with the Arena Program Assistant Director – Learn to Skate and other Learn to Skate Instructors and Lead Instructors.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES
  • Have experience in and knowledge of figure skating and learn to skate programming.
  • Be present at more than 75% of scheduled Learn to Skate ice sessions.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, thus enabling him/her to work with customers, other coaches, skaters, and parents.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize work.
  • Ability to work a variety of hours which may include holidays, evenings and weekends.

  • Five (5) years Learn to Skate instructor coaching experience preferred.
  • Must have passed the skating level that you are assigned to instruct.
  • Knowledge of all levels and facets of the United States Figure Skating (USFS), Ice Skating Institute (ISI), and Learn to Skate USA curriculum .
  • PSA, USFSA, LTS USA and/or ISA membership preferred.
  • Must be able to demonstrate all skills in the level that you would be assigned to teach.
  • Detail oriented. Self-motivated. Work independently. Reliable.
  • Able to work weekend hours.
