Classification Summary - Union
An Arena/Stadium Attendant sets up, maintains and repairs ice and field surfaces, as
well as structures and equipment related to municipal arenas, stadiums and sports fields.
Duties - Union
• Responds to service enquiries, requests and complaints from various facility users and event organizers; ensures quality customer service to users; provides general information regarding operational regulations, standards and procedures.
• Maintains and repairs various stadium, ice arena and sports field structures including bleachers, track surfaces, fencing, walkways and various operational equipment.
• Completes pre- event and post-event site inspections with event organizers to address customer service needs/rental obligations.
• Demonstrates to user groups how to operate equipment such as public address, lighting controls, security alarms and other systems.
• Checks facilities for vandalism and effects re pairs (i.e. secures vandalized doors, shuts off water valves to prevent flooding from broken toilets, etc.)
• Installs, maintains and removes ice surfaces and markings; operates and maintains ice resurfacer and other ice maintenance equipment.
• Monitors the refrigeration plant and related systems, records readings of refrigeration equipment in accordance with established procedures (i.e. oil level, pressure and temperature of cooling water, ammonia and brine); performs adjustments/repairs.
• Completes all janitorial functions required to keep the interior and exterior of facilities clean, including washing and removing litter from dressing rooms, washrooms, bleachers, grounds, etc.
• Uses a variety of hand and power tools and equipment related to building maintenance and repair.

Physical Demands
Duration of shifts can be up to 10hrs. On feet for long periods of time. Working in a cold and hot environment depending on the location of work. Heavy lifting at times.
