General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the Store and the overall operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and executing company operational processes.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors in all activities.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
- Ensure security of the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office, and other security measures.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
- Handle customer safety, accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to after-hours alarms as needed.
Customer Service
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times, recognizing associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and support the Company brand consistently.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure all associates adhere to the dress code.
- Keep all store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
- Receive merchandise and process inbound deliveries promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
- Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor.
- Secure and process back-stock according to company policy.
- Merchandise the department including back stock and promotional signage.
- Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
Loss Prevention
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and engage with customers and associates to prevent loss.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
- Execute company best practices efficiently.
Front End Supervision & Operations
- Maximize productivity and ensure associates follow standards at the Front End.
- Manage line pace and expedite customer checkout.
- Train and coach associates on cash register operations and policies.
- Control break schedules and ensure equipment functionality.
Fitting Rooms
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit garment tags and ensure return compliance.
Administrative Duties
- Conduct cash pulls, bank deposits, and manage front end controls.
- Handle payroll tasks including punch edits and scheduling.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Qualifications
- Excellent verbal communication skills and fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift up to 25 lbs regularly, with some tasks requiring more than 25 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
