GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the store, overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty, supervising associates, and maintaining a friendly shopping environment. They oversee merchandise presentation, cleanliness, and operational processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe environment, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including managing entrances/exits, EAS devices, cash office security, and handling armored carrier pickups.
- Ensure clear egress to emergency exits and remove clutter.
- Handle customer safety, accident prevention, and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to after-hours alarms.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers and associates with respect, demonstrating courtesy and professionalism.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand, maintaining a professional appearance.
- Keep the store clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, markdowns, and merchandise processing meet standards.
- Oversee merchandise receiving and organization, including back stock.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention policies, maintain a high customer service presence, and safeguard confidential information.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end standards, manage line pace, and train associates on POS procedures.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and accountability of garments and tags.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other store-specific administrative tasks.
Competencies:
- Manage Work Processes, Business Acumen, Prioritization, Talent Development, Collaboration, Leadership by Example, Effective Communication, Accountability and Execution.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication, fluency in English.
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems, basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements/ADA:
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift over 25 lbs., and use store equipment as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise retail associates and stockroom leads where applicable.
