General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the Store, overseeing operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and executing operational processes.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe environment, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office, and security measures.
- Keep egress routes clear and safe.
- Ensure customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize Associates via company programs.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain professional appearance per Dress Code.
- Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards, providing training and follow-up.
- Receive merchandise and process inbound deliveries efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
- Assist in delivering and merchandising merchandise on the sales floor.
- Secure and process back-stock according to policy.
- Reduce damage-related loss and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Manage floor moves, signage, and re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a strong presence on the sales floor, and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain Public View Monitor (PVM) system and conduct package inspections.
- Implement best practices to maximize productivity and minimize steps.
Front End Supervision and Operations
- Ensure front-end standards and expedite customer lines.
- Train and coach associates on register procedures and policies.
- Control break schedules and ensure equipment functionality.
- Maintain supplies and proper merchandise presentation at the front end.
Fitting Rooms
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit garment tags and ensure return policies are followed.
Administrative Duties
- Manage cash pulls, deposits, and payroll administration.
- Follow policies for refunds, tills, and cash security.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS equipment and applications.
- Basic math skills for retail calculations.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements/ADA
Ability to operate store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and lift over 25 lbs as needed.
Associates working stockroom shifts must be able to lift over 20 lbs regularly.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
