General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific area of the Store and general operations when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation and maintain a clean work area at all times. They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

  • Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in all tasks.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment. Report unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office security, and other security measures.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Protect customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to alarms when needed.

Customer Service:

  • Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates using company programs.

Personal and Store Brand:

  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance per Dress Code and ensure Associates do the same.
  • Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Handle daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards through coaching and follow-up.
  • Receive merchandise trucks when needed.
  • Process all merchandise with urgency.
  • Manage receipts of non-merchandise deliveries.
  • Keep Stockrooms organized and clean.
  • Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor.
  • Secure and process back-stock according to policy.
  • Merchandise the department, including back stock.
  • Reduce loss due to damage.
  • Follow presentation guidelines and manage floor moves and signage.
  • Perform re-wraps as needed.

Loss Prevention:

  • Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a large customer service presence, and increase awareness.
  • Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information.
  • Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
  • Execute company best practices to maximize productivity.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

  • Ensure front-end standards are met, manage customer lines, and train Associates on registers and policies.
  • Control break schedules and ensure equipment is operational.
  • Maintain supplies and recovery in the Front End area.
  • Manage go-backs, security tagging, and merchandise salability.

Fitting Rooms:

  • Maintain cleanliness of Fitting Rooms.
  • Audit and account for all garments and ensure return compliance.

Administrative Duties:

  • Handle cash pulls, deposits, and control procedures.
  • Manage payroll activities, including punch edits and scheduling.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English
  • Prior Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred
  • Familiarity with POS equipment
  • Basic math skills
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends

Physical Requirements & ADA:

Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 lbs. For Stockroom shifts, ability to lift over 20 lbs.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Retail Associates, Stockroom Leads (if applicable)
