General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the store, overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty, supervising associates, and maintaining a friendly shopping environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, cleanliness, and execute operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors consistently.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrances/exits, EAS devices, cash office, and handling security procedures.
- Keep clear egress routes and maintain emergency procedures.
Customer Service
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Show courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance, adhere to dress code, and keep store areas clean and merchandised.
General Merchandising
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards, and assist with receiving merchandise.
- Process merchandise with urgency, manage back stock, and ensure proper merchandising and signage.
Loss Prevention
- Follow loss prevention programs, maintain high customer service presence, and safeguard assets.
- Maintain PVM system, conduct inspections, and maximize productivity while minimizing steps.
Front End Supervision and Operations
- Ensure front-end operations meet standards, manage customer lines, and coach associates.
- Maintain equipment, supplies, and ensure merchandise security and presentation at the front.
Fitting Rooms
- Maintain cleanliness and proper tagging and security of garments.
Administrative Duties
- Manage cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Competencies
- Managing work processes, business acumen, planning, talent building, collaboration, leadership, communication, accountability.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent verbal communication.
- Fluency in English.
- Experience in customer service and supervision preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements & ADA
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and work in various physical positions.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Supervises retail associates and stockroom leads.
