General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the Store and general operations when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They supervise Associates, ensure a friendly shopping environment, proper merchandise presentation, and maintain cleanliness. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, control entry/exit, check EAS devices, and oversee security measures.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
- Ensure customer safety, report accidents, and respond to emergencies.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure adherence to the Dress Code.
- Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards through teaching and oversight.
- Receive merchandise and process deliveries promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of Stockrooms.
- Assist in merchandise placement and back-stock management.
- Reduce loss due to damage and maintain presentation guidelines.
- Manage floor moves, signing, and re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, engage customers and staff, and safeguard assets.
- Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential info, and maintain PVM system.
- Conduct package inspections and execute best practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure Front End standards and manage customer flow.
- Train and coach Associates on registers and policies.
- Control break schedules, equipment functionality, and supplies.
- Manage merchandise scanning, security tagging, and signage.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and audit garment tags.
- Ensure return compliance and proper tagging of merchandise.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, and control procedures.
- Assist with payroll, scheduling, and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent verbal communication and fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements & ADA:
Ability to use Store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift over 25 lbs. Ability to push/pull and work in various physical positions.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
