General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the Store, overseeing operations and supervision when acting as Manager on Duty. They open and close the Store, supervise Associates, and ensure a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. Responsibilities include merchandise presentation, maintaining cleanliness, and executing operational processes.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a secure shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, security of cash areas, and managing deliveries.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
- Protect customer safety, report accidents, and follow emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand.
- Maintain professional appearance and ensure all Associates adhere to dress code.
- Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised.
- Manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
- Receive merchandise and process deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of stockrooms.
- Assist with merchandise placement and back-stock management.
- Reduce loss from damage and ensure presentation guidelines are followed.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a strong customer service presence, and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system, conduct package inspections, and follow best practices to maximize productivity.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end standards, manage customer wait times, and train associates.
- Control break schedules, equipment functionality, and merchandise salability.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and ensure tags are audited and merchandise is returned properly.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other store-specific administrative tasks.
Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems and basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk for long periods, and lift up to 25 lbs.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Manage Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads.
