Position Purpose

The DC Area Supervisor leads an hourly team and influences the entire distribution team to do the fast-paced work required to run the distribution center as efficiently, safely, and productively as possible. This role manages responsibilities for team members under supervision and is responsible for ensuring prompt, efficient, and accurate handling of merchandise, as well as developing and implementing team goals. The role includes hiring, evaluation, development, discipline, and termination of hourly associates, with management responsibilities for 20 to 30 hourly associates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Managing Process (45%): Ensures all operations procedures are followed effectively, recommends changes to Operations Manager and/or Assistant General Manager, evaluates work methods, and recommends improvements.
2. Coaching and Developing Associates (25%): Guides associates, monitors productivity, safety, service, and quality; responsible for training, coaching, feedback, and evaluations; handles hiring, discipline, and terminations; investigates operational errors.
3. Drives Results (15%): Maintains inventory accuracy, reviews reports, and identifies areas for improvement in productivity, accuracy, quality, and expenses.
4. Business Planning (15%): Coordinates operations to meet performance targets, reviews reports, and plans staffing needs.
5. Additional Responsibilities: Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Management and Travel

• Typically reports to the Operations Manager.
• Supervises work activities of others, including planning, monitoring, and reviewing work, and makes recommendations on staffing and performance.
• Overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical and Working Conditions

• Requires intermittent physical exertion such as walking, standing, lifting, etc.
• Located in a comfortable indoor environment, with infrequent unpleasant conditions.

Minimum and Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum: 18 years old, legally permitted to work in the US, flexible shifts, ability to relocate, high school diploma or GED, 2 years of work experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor's degree, computer skills, warehouse management systems experience, 3+ years supervisory experience.
