GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific store area and overall store operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening/closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, and ensuring merchandise presentation and cleanliness. They also execute operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness to ensure a secure shopping environment, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
- Oversee building security, including entrances/exits, EAS devices, cash security, and alarm systems.
- Ensure clear egress routes and safety for customers and staff.
- Test fire alarms and respond to alarms after hours.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate professionalism, courtesy, and friendliness, recognizing associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand consistently.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure all associates adhere to dress code.
- Keep the store clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet company standards, supervising tasks accordingly.
- Manage merchandise receipt, processing, and organization.
- Assist with merchandise placement and back-stock management.
- Reduce damage-related loss and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintaining a high customer service presence to deter theft.
- Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Maximize efficiency at the front end, manage lines, and train associates on POS and policies.
- Control break schedules, equipment, and supplies.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and security of fitting rooms.
- Ensure proper tagging and return of merchandise.
Administrative Duties:
- Ensure cash handling and deposits follow policies.
- Manage payroll, scheduling, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Experience in customer service and supervision preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk for extended periods, and lift up to 25 lbs. or more as needed. Specific requirements for stockroom roles apply.
