GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific store area and the overall operation and supervision when acting as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, and maintain a friendly, easy-to-shop environment, ensuring proper merchandise presentation and cleanliness. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

• Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
• Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment, reporting unsafe conditions.
• Secure the building, including entrances/exits, EAS devices, Cash Office, and receiving areas.
• Keep egress clear and ensure customer safety through accident prevention and emergency procedures.
• Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms after hours.

Customer Service:

• Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
• Demonstrate professionalism, recognizing associates through company programs.

Personal and Store Brand:

• Represent and support the company brand at all times.
• Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates do the same.
• Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.

General Merchandising:

• Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
• Manage merchandise receiving, processing, and organization.
• Oversee back-stock and merchandising, reduce damage-related loss, and ensure presentation guidelines are followed.

Loss Prevention:

• Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a visible presence, and safeguard assets.
• Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

• Ensure front end standards, manage customer lines, train associates, and maintain equipment.

Fitting Rooms:

• Maintain cleanliness, audit tags, and ensure return policies are followed.

Administrative Duties:

• Manage cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

• Manage work processes, business acumen, planning, talent building, collaboration, leadership, communication, accountability.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Excellent verbal communication, fluency in English.
• Prior supervisory and customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems, basic math skills, flexibility to work evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk for up to 100%, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and perform related physical tasks. Stockroom roles require lifting over 20 lbs.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail associates and, where applicable, stockroom leads.
