General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the Store and overall operations when acting as Manager on Duty. Responsibilities include opening and closing the store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, proper merchandise presentation, and ensuring a clean work area. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security, reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, monitor EAS devices, security of cash areas, and manage entry/exit controls.
- Keep emergency exits clear and handle emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates for their efforts.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and uphold the Company brand.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure store cleanliness and merchandising standards.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are performed per standards.
- Manage merchandise receipt and processing efficiently.
- Organize stockrooms and merchandise the sales floor.
- Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Manage floor moves, signage, and re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a visible presence on the sales floor.
- Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
- Implement best practices to maximize productivity and minimize theft.
Front End Supervision and Operations
- Ensure front-end standards and efficiency.
- Manage customer lines and train associates on POS procedures.
- Control break schedules and equipment functionality.
- Maintain supplies and merchandising at the front end.
Fitting Rooms
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit garment tags and ensure merchandise is ticketed and security tagged.
Administrative Duties
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, and payroll tasks.
- Follow policies on refunds, tills, and other financial controls.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English.
- Preferred experience in customer service and supervision.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and perform related physical tasks.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
