Job description

The Area Ride and Show Technician is more than just a modern day electronic technician. They respond to power outages, work with the newest in animation and electronic technology, and resolve trouble tickets within a theme park setting. This role requires a solid knowledge of various electrical and electronic devices, along with troubleshooting equipment. The position may involve work from elevated platforms and confined spaces throughout Walt Disney World Parks and Resort property.

Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative and corrective maintenance of electrical systems
  • Respond to trouble tickets at a park or attraction
  • Perform startup and shutdown procedures, including equipment sequencing
  • Maintain or set up variable frequency drives (VFDs)
  • Perform routine maintenance on animation, lighting, audio, and video equipment
  • Handle cleaning chemicals and supplies as required; additional PPE will be provided
Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in the electrical field
  • Experience with power distribution systems up to 600 volts
  • Knowledge of AC/DC motors, motor controls, VFDs, solid-state systems, lighting, hydraulic, and pneumatic control circuits
  • Experience with PLCs and relay logic
  • Understanding of audio systems, television, and radio repair
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Fault isolation and repair skills
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal
  • Proficiency with standard office software and mobile electronic devices
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Journeyman license
  • Experience with high-efficiency equipment (e.g., lasers, Xenon lamps)
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing animation systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair ride-control systems
  • Knowledge of theatrical lighting equipment
  • Experience with RF circuits, power supplies, and circuit cards
  • Understanding fiber optic network principles
  • Knowledge of high and low voltage systems and the National Electric Code
