Job summary

BardWood Support Services is seeking an Area Relief Officer to cover Ashton-in-Makerfield, Leigh, Skelmersdale and Wigan. Day shifts, 08:45 to 17:15, with a site-based role focused on safety, security and a welcoming environment for staff and visitors.

You will provide relief cover across locations, maintain incident records, support conflict resolution, and uphold site rules. Transfer to the client after 12 weeks with benefits including company-funded SIA license renewal, cycle-to-work, salary

Qualifications

• SIA license is required.
• Full UK driving license is required.
• 5-year checkable work/career history is required.
• Experience in customer-facing environments is desirable.
• Physically fit to undertake tasks.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt.
• Security and operational system competence preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide relief cover across a portfolio of locations within a geographic region.
• Follow site operational guidance and assignment instructions to deliver quality service.
• Maintain a safe environment for staff and customers on site.
• Provide a proactive, visible security presence and initial reception duties.
• Assist in conflict resolution at client premises when needed.
• Coordinate with colleagues to ensure compliance with site rules and guidance.
• Demonstrate sensible initiative and involve others if situations threaten safety.
• Maintain smart appearance and be alert and present on client premises.
• Administer First Aid if required (training provided) and complete incident reports when needed.

About the role:

Title — Area Relief Officer

Pay Rate — £13.45 per hour

Location — Ashton-in-Makerfield, Leigh, Skelmersdale, Wigan

Shift Timings — Day shifts – Monday to Saturday: 08:45-17:15, Area Relief Officer to cover Ashton-in-Makerfield, Leigh, Skelmersdale, Wigan
You will be working in a site-based role within the public sector, where officers are responsible for ensuring the safety and security of both staff and visitors.

Your main responsibilities may include:

• Trained to provide relief cover and support to a portfolio of locations within a geographical region.
• All the tasks and activities as per the site operational guidance and Assignment Instructions. Provide quality service delivery.
• Manage and maintain a safe environment for the client's staff and customers.
• Provide a proactive presence in all public facing areas as activity requires. This will include providing a positive initial reception for clients and directional guidance.
• Working directly with the customer as part of a team to provide conflict resolution at our client's premises where there is potential for conflict.
• Working closely with your fellow colleagues to ensure members of the public comply with site rules and guidance.
• Use common sense and initiative immediately involving others if a situation becomes threatening.
• To have a smart appearance, always be alert and visible whilst commanding a security presence within the customer premises
• Be able to administer First Aid assistance if a member of public or client's staff was to be suddenly taken unwell (training will be provided)
• Complete legible incident report writing if and when an incident arises.
• Work to maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for everyone.

To succeed in this role, you will need the following:

• SIA License.
• Full UK driving license.
• 5-year checkable work/career history.
• Full driving license and access to own transport is essential.
• Prior experience of working in a customer-facing environment and dealing directly with staff/customers.
• Physically fit to undertake given tasks.
• Possess the ability to work under pressure.
• Flexible attitude and the ability to adapt.
• Security and operational system competence
