Job summary

Agropur in Jerome, Idaho, is seeking an Area Production Manager - Cheese to lead and develop supervisors and operators, ensuring high-quality output and adherence to safety standards.

You will mentor teams, optimize processes, and drive operational excellence in a fast-paced dairy environment. The role emphasizes coaching, SOP development, and continuous improvement to meet company goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field; equivalent combination of education/experience may be considered.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in manufacturing.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in a dairy/food production plant preferred.
• 3-5 years supervisory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provide training and coaching to ensure compliance with safety standards and incident prevention.
• Oversee operation of workers and equipment to produce high-quality products.
• Develop SOPs and communicate expectations to supervisors and hourly staff.
• Provide feedback to supervisors to coordinate activities of workers.
• Plan and develop systems to improve quality and efficiency of the department.
• Mentor supervisors to ensure conformance to GMP and HACCP.
• Maintain equipment and mentor staff to improve mechanical skills.
• Cover duties as needed during peak production periods.

• Salary range 005: $84,200 - $105,200 (Salary will be determined based on skills, education, training & experience related to the position.)

We are looking for a Area Production Manager - Cheese in Jerome, Idaho.

The Area Production Manager supervises, coaches, trains, and provides mentoring to supervisors and operators in the department area. This position provides technical knowledge to operators to increase their skills and help them perform their job in a successful manner. The Area Production Manager has the ultimate responsibility for operations and quality in the department area.

Where You Will Drive Value

• Provide training and coaching to ensure compliance with Safety standards and incident prevention. Conduct work in a safe manner and abide by all company safety policies.
• Responsible for operation of workers and equipment in the production of high quality/ high value products while applying learned knowledge of processes involved and production methods.
• Train employees in work methods and procedures. Develop Standard Operating Procedures for the department and communicate expectations to supervisors and hourly employees.
• Provide feedback to supervisors to help coordinate activities of workers engaged in manufacturing handled at the highest level of quality.
• Plan and develop systems and procedures to improve quality and efficiency of the department. Support the delivery of operational excellence through excellent execution via the use of operational improvement tools such as AOS, Run to Target, Focused Improvement, and Direction Setting.
• Analyze laboratory data, data trending, and react accordingly data trending.
• Act as mentor to supervisors and employees to ensure compliance with the inspection of product to verify conformance to specifications and direct setup and adjustments of machines.
• Demonstrate good mechanical skills and understanding with ability to communicate and work with the maintenance department so that all equipment is maintained at the highest level to reduce unnecessary down time. Provide guidance to supervisors and hourly employees as needed to increase their mechanical skills.
• Coach supervisors and hourly employees in the department to follow company standard Good Manufacturing Practices in their daily production runs.
• Maintain compliance with food safety programs and HACCP.
• Able to complete and/or assist in the duties of all jobs related to production when circumstances demand.
• Manage reporting of yields, recovery and maximize opportunities. Act as a coach and mentor to help supervisors and hourly employees understand the process.
