Job summary

HDR is seeking an Area Power Delivery Lead in Round Rock, TX. You will lead and mentor project teams, drive growth with large-scale Power Delivery clients, and provide technical leadership to ensure high-quality deliverables.

You will collaborate across HDR for staff development, manage risks, and advance market presence through marketing and proposals. You will engage with business leaders, travel to sites, and contribute to a culture of inclusion and employee ownership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Master's degree in engineering, Construction Management, Sciences, Business Administration, or related field is a plus.
• PE license is preferred.
• Minimum of 6 years of Power Delivery or T&D design experience.
• Strong client management, marketing and business development skills with large-scale Power Delivery clients.
• Experience with managing staff, clients, contracts and hiring staff for an engineering consulting firm is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Encourage IEEE standards development and emerging technologies (IEC-61850, smart drawings).
• Serve as client liaison with business development leaders.
• Willing to travel to offices, visit project sites, and attend client meetings.

In the role of Area Power Delivery Lead, we'll count on you to:

• Lead, develop, direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise project execution teams.
• Responsible for driving and growing HDR’s portfolio of Power Delivery services for assigned large-scale Power Delivery clients, specifically Investor-Owned Utilities.
• Establish HDR as a preferred provider of Power Delivery services by developing and maintaining strong relationships with large-scale Power Delivery clients.
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise for Power Delivery marketing/proposal efforts, communications and client development with business, operations, marketing, and project staff to maximize client satisfaction, company growth, and profitability.
• Provide technical leadership and project management oversight to ensure projects have appropriate staff assigned and that the finished product meets or exceeds client expectations.
• Work with all HDR resources to build capabilities through recruitment and staff training. This includes vetting of discipline leads, project leads, subject matter experts, and project teams in multiple offices to support the needs and growth of the program.
• Identify and mitigate project execution risks (i.e. contract terms, staffing, project financials, change orders, schedules, technical expertise, safety, and quality) associated with large-scale Power Delivery clients.
• Encourage and participate in business and community activities as a representative of HDR.
• Encourage and participate in IEEE standards development.
• Encourage and participate in emerging technologies, i.e. IEC-61850, smart drawings and process automation.
• Serve as client liaison in collaboration with business development leaders.
• Willing to travel to offices to meet with staff, visit project sites, and/or attend client meetings.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering
• Master’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Sciences, Business Administration, or a closely related field is a plus
• PE license is preferred
• Minimum of 6 years of Power Delivery or Transmission and Distribution (T&D) design experience
• Must have the technical capability to provide quality control reviews for engineering design packages relative to candidate expertise
• Excellent client management skills, marketing, and business development skills in addition to contacts/relationships with large-scale Power Delivery clients
• Proven experience scoping projects, managing projects, managing client relationships, proposal development, and business development
• Track record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical leads, and project staff
• Experience with managing multiple client relationships throughout the US is preferred.
• Previous experience managing staff, clients, contracts and hiring staff for an engineering consulting firm is preferred
