Job Description JOB POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Area Operations Manager

Position Reports To: Vice President of Operations

Position Summary The Area Operations Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, management, and performance of operations across an assigned geographic area. This position provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure safe, efficient, and profitable execution of projects while maintaining high standards of quality, productivity, customer service, and employee performance.

Essential Functions
  • Provides overall operational leadership and direction for the assigned area.
  • Develops and implements operational procedures and strategies to improve efficiency, productivity, quality, and profitability.
  • Monitors area operating activities and provides regular reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Develops and executes long-term goals and objectives for the assigned area in alignment with Apache's strategic direction.
  • Identifies, develops, and aligns high-performing teams and individuals to meet organizational goals.
  • Partners with regional Sales leadership to coordinate activities between Sales and Operations and support business development opportunities.
  • Works with regional and corporate leadership to manage financial forecasting, budgeting, revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates, and utilization.
  • Accurately forecasts revenue, profitability, margins, bill rates, utilization, and workforce requirements across the assigned area.
  • Reviews the performance and status of Account Managers, Project Managers, and operational teams and addresses issues, risks, and opportunities as appropriate.
  • Provides guidance and support to operational teams regarding contract pricing, terms, and conditions.
  • Collaborates with staff and Project Management teams to develop work scopes, staffing plans, labor estimates, schedules, and project execution strategies.
  • Ensures consistent application of craft processes, technical approaches, design standards, and quality management practices.
  • Interfaces with clients, construction personnel, subcontractors, vendors, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Leads by example and promotes a strong culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Promotes a positive work environment that encourages high performance, employee engagement, professional development, and high morale.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to managers, supervisors, and team members within the assigned area.
  • Assists in developing and implementing training strategies to ensure technical and operational competency.
  • Supports budgeting, reporting, planning, and auditing policies and procedures for the assigned area.
  • Drives Apache initiatives related to Safety, Quality, Asset Management, and operational excellence.
  • Partners with other divisions, areas, and regions to share resources, best practices, and expertise.
  • Identifies opportunities for business growth, operational expansion, improved customer relationships, and increased market share.
  • Ensures appropriate staffing levels and workforce planning to support current and anticipated business needs.
  • Supports succession planning and leadership development within the assigned area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
  • 5+ years of experience in oil and gas, industrial services, construction, or a related industry preferred.
  • 3+ years of progressive supervisory or management experience.
  • Experience managing operations across multiple projects, locations, or business units preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with financial forecasting, budgeting, project profitability, and operational performance.
  • Experience leading and developing managers, supervisors, and operational teams.
  • Experience working with clients, Sales, Project Management, and field operations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • Strong understanding of industrial services, construction, and/or oil and gas operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, teams, and priorities across a geographic area.
  • Strong financial and business acumen, including revenue, margins, profitability, utilization, and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical abilities.
  • Ability to develop and execute operational strategies aligned with business objectives.
  • Ability to coach, mentor, and develop managers and employees.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Sales, Project Management, Safety, Quality, HR, Finance, and other functional teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and applicable business management systems.
  • Ability to travel throughout the assigned area as needed.
  • Strong commitment to safety, quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.
Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Work is performed in a combination of office, client, project, construction, and field environments. May be required to visit active construction and industrial work sites, including areas with elevated noise levels, dust, temperature variations, and other typical industrial conditions. Must comply with all applicable company and site-specific safety requirements, including required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when visiting field locations. Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout office and job-site environments. Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication. May occasionally be required to lift, carry, push, or pull materials or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds. Must be able to safely navigate uneven surfaces, stairs, and other conditions commonly found at industrial and construction sites.
