Key responsibilities

Operational management

  • Oversee daily operations across multiple MRFs, including receiving, sorting, processing, and shipping of recyclable materials.
  • Manage site operations (scale house, sorting lines, loading areas) to control handling and operating costs.
  • Monitor production KPIs, including throughput, recovery rate, contamination level, and truck turnaround time.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to raise efficiency and material recovery.

Safety and compliance

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, state and local regulations, and company safety standards.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and meetings.
  • Build and maintain a strong safety culture across all facilities.

Personnel leadership

  • Manage supervisors and frontline employees across all facilities.
  • Own hiring, coaching, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary action.
  • Develop staff through mentorship and structured professional development.

Maintenance and equipment oversight

  • Coordinate maintenance activity to minimize downtime and keep equipment performing to spec.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance programs and enforce facility cleanliness and equipment safety standards.

Financial and strategic management

  • Prepare and manage budgets, analyze financial performance, and support capital planning.
  • Develop operational strategies that improve profitability, reduce cost, and increase diversion rates.
  • Review and approve operational reports, production data, and compliance documentation.
  • Complete required compliance and production paperwork on schedule; specific reporting cadence and systems to be confirmed with corporate operations.

Stakeholder and community engagement

  • Serve as the primary liaison with local communities, municipalities, and customers.
  • Resolve customer concerns related to quality, contamination, and service.
