The position requires coordinating with buyers and managers, preparing for shipments, and maintaining department appearance and paperwork; it also entails assisting in store meetings and acting as store manager in their absence.

Responsibilities

• Provides a continuous flow of communication with buyers and managers on the merchandising of assigned departments.
• Informs buyers of fast and slow merchandise and requests by customers.
• Ensures proper presentation of merchandise; including ticketing, signing, sizing, and display; maintains signage in department.
• Trains and informs sales associates on fashion trends, new merchandise, advertised items, customer service, salesmanship, and commission goals.
• Available to work with buyers during in store visits.
• Prepares the department for receipt and placement of daily merchandise shipments.
• Delegates and controls the accuracy of all departmental paperwork; responsible for final fiscal inventory within 1% shrinkage.
• Recognizes departmental employees’ job performance and recommends appropriate action to manager; performs evaluations on staff.
• Responsible for assigned department appearance and personnel activity.
• Understands and carries out all company policies and procedures.
• Assists in store meetings and training sessions.
• Motivates sales staff to encourage high sales productivity.
• Schedules and supervises assigned departments to ensure adequate floor coverage and proper service.
• Submits requisitions for sales associates to Office Manager/or Store Manager for HR; trains and places personnel.
• Ensures customer service with a smile at all times in their department and at the store level when acting as store manager.
• Opens and closes store as assigned by the Store Manager.
• Approves checks and employee transactions.
• Promotes the opening of charge accounts and gift card purchase.
• Acts to prevent shoplifting and internal shrinkage; reports matters of dishonesty with security.
• Works in sales or cashier capacity as needed.
• Acts as the store manager in the absence of the store manager.
• Takes inventories and maintains unit control records/reports as requested by management or buyers.
