Job summary

Granite Construction is seeking a senior operations leader to oversee all activities within a geographic area, including setting expectations and guiding strategy to meet short- and long-term goals. Experience in water resources projects (wells, rehabilitation, servicing) is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities include strategic plan execution, budgeting, safety program enforcement, and leadership development.

Qualifications

  • BS degree preferred but not required (education requirement).
  • Minimum of eight+ years related experience in construction/ water resources.
  • Knowledge of construction operations, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and implementation of strategic plan for the area and business unit.
  • Prepare accurate financial forecasts, budgets, and projections.
  • Ensure safety programs with zero tolerance for non-compliance.
  • Develop and mentor area employees and leaders.
  • Participate in bid reviews for large or complex bids to assess risk and opportunity.
  • Manage area water well drilling business and ensure alignment with financial expectations.

Experience in the water resources field (Wells, rehabilitation and servicing) strongly preferred.Essential Job Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation and implementation of strategic plan for the area and business unit that promotes growth of the business unit and its capabilities, which are consistent with the region and corporate strategic plans and goals.Prepare and communicate accurate and timely financial forecasts, budgets, and projections.Be a visible model and champion for our employees to conduct themselves and our business activities consistent with our Core Values and Code of Conduct; enhancing our reputation for truthfulness and fair dealing.Ensure that the Company’s Safety programs are implemented, and that there is zero tolerance for non-compliance with minimum safety standards set by the Corporate and region leadership.Work diligently to create an environment with the ultimate goal of “ZERO” accidents. In union shop environments, when necessary, act as a collaborator with labor relations, to the collective bargain process. In merit shop environments, work with the Corporate and local benefits coordinators to ensure Layne's programs provide the appropriate benefit coverage and compensation for non-union craft employees.Ensure that the Company’s equipment standards and policies are being met.
