Job Description

The Area Facilities Manager is responsible for leading a team of technicians and managers in delivering Material Handling, Industrial Automation, and Base Building services in a 24/7 logistics environment. This role reports to the Facilities Manager and manages Controls Systems Specialists and MHE Technicians on shift.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Promoting a safety-first culture and ensuring safety procedures are followed
  • Managing vendor performance and supplier relationships
  • Leading and managing a shift to ensure 100% equipment uptime
  • Developing solutions for complex problems and managing escalations
  • Handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and planning departmental goals
  • Maintaining preventative maintenance programs and good relationships with operations leaders
  • Developing business plans and overseeing their implementation
  • Ensuring contract compliance with subcontractors and suppliers
  • Coordinating with site occupants and property management
  • Managing operating budgets and developing SOPs and PM schedules
  • Building a high-performing, engaged team aligned with company mission
  • Overseeing facility performance contracts and system repairs
  • Conducting audits and maintaining records for program adherence

Qualifications include:

  • Four-year degree or relevant experience
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in multi-building operations
  • Experience managing MHE, Controls, and PIT operations
  • Proven ability to manage 24/7 operations in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong client relationship, negotiation, and project management skills
  • Knowledge of building systems, contracts, and basic accounting
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and excellent communication skills
  • Membership in professional organizations and certifications like Six Sigma is a plus
