Job summary

Mass General Brigham's Environmental Services team in Boston is seeking an Area Manager for evenings to supervise housekeeping staff, ensure a clean, safe hospital environment for patients, visitors, and staff, and maintain compliance with hospital guidelines.

You will develop schedules, recruit and train personnel, inspect facilities, manage inventory, and coordinate safety enhancements while upholding infection prevention and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Establishes standards, policies, and work procedures for housekeeping staff in accordance with hospital guidelines.
• Develops work schedules and assigns staff to areas and shifts to ensure adequate coverage and service throughout the hospital.
• Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates housekeeping personnel.
• Conducts routine inspections of hospital facilities to assess cleanliness, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Recommends repairs, painting, furnishing updates, equipment relocation, and space reallocation to improve sanitation, appearance, and workflow.
• Identifies and reports unsafe conditions and ensures compliance with safety standards.
• Researches and evaluates new housekeeping equipment, supplies, and cleaning methods.
• Prepares budgets, departmental reports, and other administrative documentation.
• Manages inventory levels of housekeeping supplies and equipment and coordinates the purchase of new or replacement items.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory, infection prevention, and hospital quality standards.
