Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is seeking an Area Manager - Central Alabama to lead operations and growth for the Birmingham, AL region. You will drive performance, manage client accounts, and oversee regional financials while developing high-performing teams.

The role requires a senior operations background in consulting engineering, with a track record in revenue growth, strategic planning, and cross-functional leadership. A bachelor’s degree in engineering is required; a master’s is preferred.

• 10+ years of operating management experience in a consulting engineering environment, with 5+ years in senior management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support financial reporting and proactively address efficiency gaps.
• Ensure operational controls, reporting procedures, and performance standards are met.
• Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers and Client Account Managers.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
• Partner with HR and executive leadership on workforce planning and talent development.
• Recruit, train, and develop future leaders.
• Regular travel, including overnight travel, is required.
• Position may require extended hours to meet business objectives.

Description

Waggoner Engineering, Inc. is hiring an Area Manager - Central Alabama for our Birmingham, AL office to lead operations, drive growth, and develop high-performing teams within the Central Alabama market. This role is responsible for overall business performance, client relationships, financial oversight, and strategic execution across the region.

Your Primary Responsibilities will include

Leadership & Strategy

• Provide day-to-day leadership aligned with company mission and core values
• Develop and execute regional growth strategies aligned with company objectives
• Create and implement strategic plans to track KPIs and performance metrics
• Partner with senior leadership to strengthen operational structure and processes

Business Development & Client Leadership
