Job Description:

Job: Area Maintenance Technician
Shift: Days (6am - 2:30 pm) (Flexible to support other shifts as needed)
Location: Mars Petcare (Fort Smith, AR)

Mars Petcare is seeking an Area Maintenance Specialist to join our pet food manufacturing plant in Fort Smith, AR. We focus on nutrition for cats and dogs, delivering precise, effective products. The role involves managing maintenance activities, working closely with Quality, Safety, and Operations teams to ensure product quality, safety, and efficiency. Responsibilities include scheduling maintenance, leading safety and quality initiatives, technical troubleshooting, and team leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Manage PM systems, focusing on maintenance planning, scheduling, and breakdown elimination.
  • Lead and participate in CP meetings and coordinate planned stops.
  • Identify and align maintenance resources for planned stops and corrective actions.
  • Serve as the maintenance spokesperson during DMS discussions.
  • Provide technical expertise in mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Lead a team supporting safety, quality, environmental, and regulatory goals.
  • Drive results in downtime reduction, maintenance costs, and PM compliance.
  • Mentor technicians and operators, and handle abnormalities.
  • Support reliability and operational improvement plans.

Education & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Associate's degree in Industrial Maintenance/Technology (preferred)

Physical Requirements:

  • Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, handling, bending, and working at heights.

Knowledge & Experience

  • Leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and SAP.
  • Manufacturing maintenance experience (preferred).
