Job summary

Plastipak is seeking an Area Leader to coordinate downstream personnel and ensure shift objectives are met. You will communicate with the Team Leader and Shift Maintenance to keep equipment reliable and processes running smoothly.

You will manage time, identify issues on downstream equipment, supervise line labor, and maintain records while following food safety, GMP, and ISO guidelines. A strong safety mindset is required.

• Must understand verbal and written instructions in English.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate downstream personnel under supervision of Team Leader and Shift Maintenance.
• 2. Identify causes on downstream equipment and communicate them to Team Leader and Shift Maintenance.
• 3. Maintain knowledge of pallet conveying system and touch screen controls for palletizers, wrappers and strappers.
• 4. Manage raw material handling, stock rotation and storage areas.
• 5. Ensure product quality by inspecting labels and bottle specs.
• 6. Learn changeovers and preventative maintenance per ZMF51; follow safety and GMP practices.
• 7. Create line labor schedules in absence of team lead; conduct daily Shift Meetings and prepare production labels; update SAP and Labor Report.
• 8. Maintain trainee records and track training completion.
• 9. Adhere to safety policies and housekeeping; follow ISO procedures.

Job description

Plastipak Production Area Leaders are responsible for the coordination of downstream personel closely directed, at times through the team leader. They communicate to the Team Leader and Shift Maintenance the reliability of the equipment; pallet conveying systems, strappers, wrappers, and palletizers. This rile works closely with the Team Leader and Shift Maintenance to ensure shift operational objectives are maintained.

As An Area Leader, You will:

• Manage associates time including break protocols.
• Identify cause and affect issues on downstream equipment up to and including basic repairs and communicates them to the Team Leader and Shift Maintenance.
• Operational understanding of the pallet conveying system and its touch screen controls along with the basic functional controls of palletizers, wrappers and strappers.
• Has knowledge of the handling of all raw materials (tier sheets, top frames, scrap raw materials, pallets, stretch wrap and banding) which would include; how to acquire them, the rotation of stock and storage areas of these materials.
• Ensures product integrity by supplying a quality finished good to our customer based on the quality standard provided. This would include visually inspecting the unit to ensure the proper label information meets the bottle specifications.
• Read and follow the ZMF51 and knows how to be effective and efficient with managing change overs and preventative maintenance.
• Follows basic grinding room operations and knows scrap product procedures.
• Effectively repair damaged units and knows short pallet protocol.
• Must learn and understand the operations in the layer pad area.
• In absence of team lead, must create line labor schedule; perform daily Shift Meeting, including assign daily tasks and assignments; complete Food Safety and Shift Meeting form; create production labels when needed and for the next shift; print out updated ZMF51 schedule and enter production numbers in SAP and finalize Labor Report.
• Keep record of Trainees (PPK and Temporary) to know percent complete as well as when they will complete training.
• Observes all local and company safety policies and procedures as well as maintaining good housekeeping and GMP practices.
• Follows our ISO standards and how to locate plant procedural forms and work instructions.
• Initiate action(s) for food safety issues and report the issue(s) and action(s) taken to a member of the Food Safety Team.
• Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the company’s discretion.

To Be Area Leader, You'll Have:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience in manufacturing setting.
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to communicate verbally and give clear direction.
• Proven attendance, safety and quality record.
• Team oriented.
• Must maintain First Aid/CPR Training.
• Must maintain valid forklift certification.
• Ability to multi-task.

Pay: $22.00/hr.
