RAYUS Radiology is looking for an Area Lead PET/CT Technologist to join our team. As an Area Lead PET/CT Technologist you will perform all PET/CT procedures according to the established standards and protocols to provide quality patient care. Remains self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve. Assists the Area Supervisor/Area Manager with administrative duties and provides technical direction and staff supervision when applicable.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



(80%) Technologist Duties



  • Performs the essential functions of a technologist when performing diagnostic services per Technologist Job Description and set safety and accreditation guidelines.

  • Follow approved and published scope of practice per modality.

  • Greets and identifies correct patient and provides a brief explanation of requested procedure to ensure patient care and patients' right to know

  • Performs all required PET and nuclear medicine procedures through proper positioning and technique, consistently demonstrating good judgment in evaluating the diagnostic studies

  • Screens patients before examination for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination

  • Explains procedure to be performed to alleviate patient anxiety and facilitate patient cooperation

  • Monitors the condition of any patient within the department and assists the radiologist in performing needed medical attention, if applicable

  • Conduct examinations with regard to patient's age, condition or other special requirements

  • Monitors and administers patient injections to ensure compliance with site federal and state regulations and quality assurance standards.

  • Assists the radiologist during the administration of radiopharmaceuticals and practices medical and surgical aseptic procedures as required

  • Recognizes allergic reactions and respond in accordance to company policies and procedures for emergency patient care

  • Prepares examination for interpretation by the radiologist to include correct identification and processing of images, adequate clinical history and previous x-rays for comparison (if available)

  • Demonstrates knowledge of safety-related work behaviors to ensure safe job performance and the maintenance of a safe work environment as an integral part of the quality of patient care services

  • Reports contamination to Radiation Safety Officer

  • Maintains accurate patient records within RAYUS information system.

  • Performs, and oversees that other staff are recording daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly quality control procedures on equipment to ensure compliance with all regulatory guidelines.

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relations with customers, (Radiologists, Patients, and Hospital Personnel).

  • Provides Feedback and investigates complaints with regard to Patient and customers, then works with RAYUS Manager to find resolution.

  • Oversees and orders all technical and non-technical supplies for the site and ensures an adequate inventory is maintained.

  • Oversees, maintains and trouble shoots problems with the physical plant, whether the asset is fixed or mobile and reports issues to appropriate repair department.

  • Leads, assigns and coordinates work performed by team members. Evaluate work for acceptability and compliance with company safety, quality and productivity standards.

  • Coordinates and accommodates any necessary schedule revisions. Strives to maintain minimal rescheduling and cancellations rates, and meets productivity standards through proper direction, scheduling and staff certification.

  • Maintains equipment, clean and disinfect equipment after each use, check to ensure emergency equipment is in good working order; take corrective action for any hazardous conditions or equipment breakdowns

  • Ensures an orderly and clean work area in all modalities to promote good safety habits for patients and team

  • Ensures compliance with state regulations and internal policies regarding documentation and tracking of safety and licensing-related items

  • Establishes associate schedules to provide for planned time off, while ensuring appropriate staffing levels

  • Promotes and motivates good customer relations with patients, physicians, visitors and other company personnel

  • Ensures compliance with state regulations and internal policies regarding documentation and tracking of safety and licensing-related items


(15%) Staff Supervision



  • Interact with the facility and RAYUS manager in the scheduling of technical and support staff

  • Establishes associate schedules to provide for planned time off, while ensuring appropriate staffing levels

  • Assists in the development of other staff members' skills through cross training, performance reviews; provide guidance to other ancillary areas as requested by supervisor

  • Assists site and RAYUS managers with organizing and completion of staff meetings, educational in-services, enforcement of safety procedures, and maintaining the professional appearance of the facility


(5%) Performs other duties as assigned



  • Assists federal and state inspectors in completing regulatory compliance inspections and resolving problems. (THE JOINT COMMISSION, ACR, IAC, OSHA, AHCA)

  • Completes other tasks and projects assigned


SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS:


Required:



  • Graduate of American Medical Association (AMA) approved school of Nuclear Medicine. Be current and in good standing as Registered/licensed in Nuclear Medicine (ARRT (N), CNMT).

  • Licensed technologist in the appropriate state, if applicable

  • Minimum 2 years' experience

  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).

  • Valid driver's license and proof of current insurance


Preferred:



  • Bilingual

  • 3 years of PET experience
