A Day in the Life

The Area Innovation Manager (AIM) is a field-based Medtronic Endoscopy (GI) sales position. The individual will call on MSO/IDN headquarters, hospitals, ambulatory surgical centers (ASC), physician offices, and will support their assigned geographic area. The AIM aligns with internal and external stakeholders to execute and accelerate meaningful outcomes for strategic organizational initiatives and will serve as a customer-facing product expert. This position primarily focuses on protecting and expanding the utilization of Medtronic AI platforms in GI Genius by executing market development and sales activities. Individuals will transfer knowledge and best practices to accelerate the technology’s adoption by the broader sales force. The role involves developing solutions to a broad range of issues at the account level, requiring cross-functional interactions and leadership with only high-level guidance. The position is remote; the candidate must reside within the territory and drive to multiple accounts. A valid driver’s license is essential. This role covers multiple states and is ideally based in Seattle, WA; Portland, OR; Boise, ID; or Sacramento, CA, with significant travel including overnights.

Position Responsibilities

  • BUSINESS EXCELLENCE
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales quotas by driving product adoption through the delivery of clinical and economic value of Medtronic AI platforms
  • Expertise in artificial intelligence trends including market positioning of GI Genius and macroeconomic factors that influence decision making in AI in healthcare
  • Understanding of the current and future AI competitive landscape, including non-AI technology designed to improve patient outcomes; position Medtronic AI platforms as the market leader
  • Target, convert, and install new GI Genius accounts at enterprise levels (MSO/IDN headquarters, hospitals, and ASCs)
  • Define direction for new products (primarily GI Genius), processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with significant impact on work group results; integrate GI portfolio into GI Genius sales processes
  • Represents the organization as a primary contact for specific projects and initiatives; identify and leverage internal and external customers and vendors; negotiate to reach understanding or agreement and influence decision-making
  • Develop the sales and clinical organization in the assigned territory by sharing GI Genius product expertise, skills, and sales knowledge; success defined by focused product quota achievement
  • Develops solutions to complex problems and makes significant improvements to processes, systems, or products; executes identified solutions
  • Provides solution-oriented strategies to facilitate product adoption and accelerate sales growth
  • Establish relationships with healthcare executives, physicians, and KOLs in the territory where procedures are performed or influenced
  • Interact with physicians, hospital executives, and service line administrators to close sales and drive ongoing utilization of the solution-based software technology as cleared by the U.S. FDA, as appropriately regulated
  • Deliver understanding of healthcare economics specific to the customer and validate the value proposition of Medtronic AI platforms
  • Initiate and lead engagements with internal cross-functional leaders to accelerate and close the sales process
  • Significant travel required – 75%

CLINICAL EXCELLENCE

  • Understand and deliver the clinical value of Medtronic AI platforms, including published evidence, disease pathways, and algorithm development
  • Provide clinical product demonstrations and education in accounts to increase customer understanding and proficiency
  • Demonstrate disease state expertise in all areas for which the products are used
  • Proactively understand and articulate clinical and journal articles in all relevant disease states, regardless of study outcome and Medtronic positioning

ADMINISTRATIVE EXCELLENCE

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the CRM system with the ability to present pipeline and forecasts
  • Complete administrative responsibilities, such as expense reports and sales reports
  • Perform all online trainings within assigned timelines demonstrating proficiency
  • Adhere to Medtronic code of conduct policy

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience with knowledge of company products and services

NICE TO HAVE

  • Enterprise-level technical sales with life sciences, healthcare, or software (SaaS, PaaS, SaMD) background preferred
  • Record of achieving quarterly and yearly sales quotas (e.g., President’s Club or top performer rankings)
  • Experience with GI Genius and capability to educate physicians and clinical personnel
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in Office 365 and Salesforce.com
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships across functional areas
  • Medical device/equipment sales experience and selling to physicians in procedural settings
  • Degree in Life Sciences, Medicine, or a related field
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently
