Job summary

ENFRA is seeking an Area HSE Specialist to oversee safety for Business Unit projects in the United States. You will monitor compliance, lead safety initiatives, and communicate risks to supervisors.

Travel will be substantial (50-75%), with responsibilities including incident investigations, training, and the development of safety plans in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication and hands-on leadership are required.

Qualifications

• Recognized safety certification required.
• 5 years of construction experience.
• 1 year on-site safety experience on a project.
• First Aid, CPR and AED trainer certification.
• Government regulations and industrial hygiene knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Participates in developing and conducting field safety orientation training.
• Daily inspection of machinery, equipment, and working conditions.
• Ensure proper use of prescribed PPE (glasses, helmets, gloves, etc.).
• Inspect fire-prevention equipment and first-aid supplies.
• Test hazard exposures and report findings.
• Prepare reports with corrective action recommendations.
• Investigate accidents and establish root causes for preventive measures.
• Develop JSA, SHMP, and project safety plans.
• Conduct weekly safety meetings with workers.
• Demonstrate safety training and equipment use.
• Interact with area Operations on trends and activity.

Overview

The Area HSE Specialist is responsible for assisting in the overall supervision and administration of safety for Business Unit projects to maintain a safe and healthy work environment for all employees. Overseeing project safety efforts in their respective area to prevent accidents and injuries while communicating details of safety conditions to the HSE Manager and various levels of Business Unit supervision for their area of responsibility.

Responsibilities

• Participates in developing and conducting field safety orientation training.
• Daily inspection of machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safe work practices.
• Observes workers to determine appropriate use of prescribed safety equipment such as glasses helmets, goggles, respirators, gloves, and clothing.
• Inspection of specified areas for fire-prevention equipment, first-aid supplies, and other safety devices.
• Tests working areas for hazard exposures (noise, toxic, etc.) using associated testing equipment.
• Prepares reports of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
• Investigation of accidents per program procedures to establish root cause for use in recommending preventive safety measures.
• Documenting all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions or behavior.
• Assisting in development of standardized job safety analysis (JSA), corporate safety and health management program (SHMP), as well as project specific safety plans (PSSP).
• Conducts weekly safety meetings with workers to instruct them on company/project safety practices and requirements.
• Demonstrates use of equipment and conduct safety training
• Performs office or nonmanual work directly related to the management or general business operations of the employer or the employer’s customers.
• Exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance in their area of responsibility
• Regularly interact with area Operational counterparts regarding trends and work activity.

Qualifications

Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications

• Recognized Safety Certification.
• 5 years of previous construction experience.
• 1 year of previous experience as on-site safety person.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED Trainer.
• Specific mobile equipment trainer.
• Working knowledge of government regulations, hazard control methods, and industrial hygiene.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct training and influence organizational behavior.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
• Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
• Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience, And Qualifications

• BCSP certification(s): CSP, ASP, GSP, OHST, CHST

Travel Requirements

50-75% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.

Physical/Work Environment Requirements

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Climbing stairs.
• Remaining in a stationary position, often kneeling, standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
• Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Pay Range

USD $88,380.00 - USD $105,000.00 /Yr.
