Stephenson High School is seeking a Science Teacher who utilizes best practices to increase student achievement. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver, and promote high academic expectations for all students. The ideal candidate must work collaboratively with team members and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver instruction to diverse learners, including students with special needs, aligned with state and district standards.
  • Create a safe, engaging learning environment that promotes academic success, physical fitness, and life skills for global citizenship.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person and virtual learning, with documented evidence of preparation.
  • Communicate with students, parents, and district personnel via phone, email, or video conferencing.
  • Create a conducive classroom environment, both physical and virtual, supporting students' social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Use internet and web-based technology for instruction and collaboration.
  • Assess student progress, document performance, and prepare reports on achievement, attendance, and behavior.
  • Supervise and manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in conferences with parents, students, counselors, and administrators regarding student development.
  • Perform general instructional duties, including ordering materials and attending meetings and professional development sessions.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals or instructional aides as needed.
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality.

Additional Requirements for Special Education Teachers:

  • Identify educational needs and provide instruction tailored to students with varying exceptionalities.
  • Implement and monitor IEPs, communicate with families, and serve as case manager for students with disabilities.
  • Adhere to Georgia professional educator ethics.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
  • Valid Georgia teaching certificate in the relevant field.

Special Education Certification:

  • Appropriate certification in special education or related areas, with content certification aligned to the teaching assignment.

ESOL & Gifted Endorsements:

  • Endorsements approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.

Career Technical and Agricultural Education (CTAE):

  • Minimum education and experience requirements based on specialization.
  • Pass the GACE Education Ethics Assessment.
  • At least two years of verifiable industrial work experience or industry licensure.
