Martin Luther King Jr. High School is seeking a Science Teacher who utilizes best practices to increase student achievement. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver, and promote high academic expectations to all students. The ideal candidate must work collaboratively with team members and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Teach grade-relevant, subject-specific, and mandated curriculum.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person and virtual learning, demonstrating evidence of preparation.
  • Communicate with district personnel, students, and parents via phone, email, or video conferencing.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning, supporting students' physical, social, and emotional development.
  • Utilize internet and web-based technology for instruction and collaboration.
  • Assess and document student progress, prepare reports on achievement, grades, attendance, and performance.
  • Supervise and manage student behavior per the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
  • Participate in conferences with parents, students, counselors, and administrators as required.
  • Perform general instructional duties, including ordering materials and attending professional development sessions.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals or instructional aides as needed.
  • Maintain consistent attendance.
Additional Requirements for Special Education Teachers:
  • Identify educational needs and instruct students with varying exceptionalities.
  • Follow IEPs, monitor student progress, and communicate with families.
  • Serve as case manager for students with disabilities, maintaining relevant paperwork and facilitating IEP meetings.
  • Adhere to Georgia professional educator ethics.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
  • Valid teaching certificate in the relevant field.
Special Education Certification:
  • Certification in Special Education or related fields, aligned with the teaching assignment.
ESOL & Gifted Endorsements:
  • Endorsements as required by Georgia standards.
Career Technical Education (CTAE):
  • Minimum education and industry experience requirements, including passing the GACE Education Ethics Assessment.
