Dunwoody High School is seeking a Music Teacher who utilizes best practices to increase student achievement. The primary responsibility is to implement, deliver, and promote high academic expectations to all students. Job Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver educational instruction to diverse learners, including those with special needs, aligned with state and district standards.
  • Create a safe, engaging learning environment promoting academic success, physical fitness, and life skills.
  • Perform work independently under moderate supervision, applying foundational knowledge effectively.
Essential Job Duties
  • Teach grade-relevant, subject-specific, and mandated curriculum.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans for in-person and virtual learning, with documented evidence of preparation.
  • Communicate with district personnel, students, and parents via phone, email, or video conferencing.
  • Create conducive classroom environments for learning and development.
  • Use internet and web-based technology for instruction and collaboration.
  • Assess and report student progress, attendance, and performance.
  • Manage student behavior according to the Student Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in conferences with stakeholders regarding student development.
  • Attend meetings, professional training, and perform instructional duties such as ordering materials.
  • Supervise paraprofessionals or instructional aides as needed.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
Additional Requirements for Special Education Teachers
  • Identify educational needs and instruct students with varying exceptionalities.
  • Follow IEPs, monitor progress, and communicate with families.
  • Serve as case manager for students with disabilities, maintaining relevant documentation.
  • Adhere to educator ethics per Georgia standards.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution approved by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
  • Valid Georgia teaching certificate in the relevant field.
Special Education Certifications
  • Appropriate certification in special education or related areas, aligned with teaching assignment.
Additional Endorsements and Experience
  • Subject-specific endorsements for ESOL & Gifted education.
  • Minimum two years of verifiable industrial work experience or industry licensure for CTAE roles.
