Bechtel Global Corporation is seeking an Area Field Superintendent in Reston, VA, to oversee all activities related to the GIS Switchyard for a major power project. This role includes supervising craft professionals, ensuring compliance with construction standards, and coordinating subcontractor activities.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree and extensive experience in GIS switchgear construction. The position requires strong leadership skills and the ability to manage costs and schedules effectively.
The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is fueling unprecedented demand for data centres that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response to this market trend, the Renewables & Clean Power (RCP) team has signed an early works contract to build one of the largest gas‑fired power generation facilities in the U.S. This project is of significant scale and complexity, and our team is helping the customer progress early‑stage development, which will lead to the start of full EPC delivery this year.
The candidate will act as the Area Superintendent on the upcoming project. The candidate may start in the home office in Reston, VA, as single status, to support preconstruction planning, ahead of project mobilization to the field when the candidate will locate on a long‑term assignment to Cheyenne, Wyoming. This position is contingent upon project award.
As the Area Field Superintendent (Switchyard), you will lead a team and supervise superintendents and/or craft professionals on a project. You will direct craft professional activities and work schedules, and coordinate subcontract work activities and team development. Your oversight will ensure craft professionals have the tools required to be productive, comply with project policies, procedures, and job site work rules and procedures, and perform within specifications, schedules and budgets.
Your main area of focus will be the supervision of the GIS Switchyard/Microgrid and all associated activities within your area including subcontract activities, foundation installation, cabling and terminations, transformer setting, and all other activities associated with the works in this area.
