Job summary

Qnity is seeking a skilled engineer to serve as a subject matter expert on equipment failures, leading root cause investigations and providing troubleshooting expertise. You will collaborate across operations, maintenance, and engineering to drive reliable performance of critical equipment.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in manufacturing or reliability environments, with a mechanical engineering background and a hands-on leadership style to influence change and drive outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience (manufacturing, reliability, engineering, etc.).
  • Ability to solve problems and prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with operations, maintenance, and other functional groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead through influence; hands-on with operators, technicians, and engineers to drive change and results.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations.
  • Provide technical expertise to Unit personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment meets its intended or existing service conditions.
  • Lead or participate in downtime related RCIs for critical process equipment.
  • Ensure troubleshooting guides are created and kept up to date.
  • Support PSM elements as applicable; provide input on work orders during turnarounds for critical equipment.
  • Provide deeper understanding of MTBF and improvement plans.
  • Work cross functionally to support continuous improvement efforts.

Responsibilities

Serves as a subject matter expert in equipment failures and repair techniques during root cause investigations. Provides technical expertise to Unit personnel on troubleshooting failures, repairs, and evaluating whether equipment is designed to meet its intended or existing service conditions. Leads/participates in downtime related RCIs for equipment that is critical for the process ensures that work requests include engineering input on repair details such as clearances, tolerances, materials of construction, welding procedures, etc. and if necessary provide onsite/offsite technical support for deviations from this data. Ensures troubleshooting guides are created as appropriate and kept up to date. Provides maintainability input to capital project process Support PSM elements as applicable During development of turnaround, provides input on development of work orders particularly on critical equipment requiring engineering review or input. Reliability reviewer on minor capital projects Leads unit level OEE programs and participates in OEE reviews. Provides deeper level understanding of MTBF (mean time between failure) and improvement plan. Works cross functionally to support continuous improvement efforts.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience (manufacturing, reliability, engineering, etc.)
  • The ability to solve problems and prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously is needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with operations, maintenance, and other functional groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead through influence; able to take a "hands-on" approach with operators, technicians, and engineers to drive change and get results.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification preferred.
  • Statistical Analysis (JMP, Minitab)
