Job summary

Qnity is seeking a Senior Maintenance Mechanic to lead and perform advanced maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems at our Cleveland facility. The role requires diagnosing issues, performing preventive maintenance, and mentoring junior staff in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Shift options include two schedules: 6:00am–2:30pm and 10:00pm–6:00am. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED with technical training, 7+ years of experience, and CMMS

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
  • 7+ years of industrial or facilities maintenance experience with advanced troubleshooting.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics).
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems; PLC experience is a plus.
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and CMMS experience.
  • Ability to work independently and lead maintenance efforts when required.
  • Welding, fabrication, or machining experience preferred.
  • Exposure to lean manufacturing or reliability-centered maintenance is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical and electromechanical equipment.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance to minimize downtime.
  • Lead and support maintenance activities on production equipment, utilities, and facility systems.
  • Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manuals, and technical documentation.
  • Install, modify, and upgrade equipment and machinery as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and work orders.
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate with operations, engineering, and external vendors as required.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reliability.

The Senior Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for performing advanced maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This role serves as a technical leader within the maintenance team, supporting preventative maintenance programs, mentoring junior mechanics, and ensuring equipment reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or GED is required, with technical or vocational training and an Electrical or Mechanical degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 7+ years of industrial or facilities maintenance experience, with demonstrated advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including motors, gearboxes, pumps, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (PLC experience a plus).
  • Ability to use precision measuring tools and maintenance software (CMMS experience preferred).
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead maintenance efforts when required.
Physical Requirements

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50lbs Comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in industrial environments Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed

Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing/industrial setting and may involve exposure to noise, heat, moving machinery, and other physical conditions typical of maintenance operations.
