Job summary

United Rentals is seeking an Area Dispatcher to organize daily driver dispatch for a metro area, coordinating with Operations Managers and Inside Sales Reps to ensure timely deliveries and superior customer service. This role requires leadership, strong organizational and communication skills, and a solid grasp of DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
• Knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations.

• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, organization and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dispatch of drivers within the metro-area to maximize efficiency and customer delivery responsiveness.
• Monitor driver progress and adjust schedules as pick-up and delivery orders come in.
• Maximize truck loads outbound and inbound.
• Optimize use of overtime and outside haulers to deliver superior customer service.
• Support branches in maintaining customer relations via phone and modify deliveries as needed.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and accountability through proactive communication and compliance.
• Perform safety inspections within company and governmental policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

You will work closely with Operations Managers and Inside Sales Reps to ensure deliveries are properly scheduled and executed to guarantee superior customer service. What you’ll do:

• Oversee dispatch of drivers within the metro-area to maximize efficiency and customer delivery responsiveness
• Monitor driver progress and adjust schedules as pick-up and delivery orders come in
• Maximize truck loads outbound and inbound
• Optimize use of overtime and outside haulers to deliver superior customer service
• As needed, support branches in maintaining customer relations via phone, making additions, cancellations, and changes regarding equipment location or delivery time
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and discipline through exemplary personal compliance, accountability and pro-active communication
• Perform all safety inspections within company and governmental policies
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Technical knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations
