Job summary

United Rentals, the world's largest equipment rental provider, is seeking an Area Dispatcher to organize the daily dispatch of drivers for a metro area. You will work closely with Operations Managers and Inside Sales Reps to schedule and execute deliveries, ensuring superior customer service and safety compliance.

This safety-sensitive role requires strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to monitor progress, optimize loads, and adapt to changing orders while maintaining DOT

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dispatch of drivers within the metro-area to maximize efficiency and responsiveness.
• Monitor driver progress and adjust schedules as orders come in.
• Maximize truck loads outbound and inbound.
• Optimize overtime use and outside haulers to deliver superior customer service.
• Support branches with customer relations via calls for equipment location or delivery time.
• Demonstrate safety and disciplinary compliance.
• Perform all safety inspections per company/government policies.
• Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Do

• Oversee dispatch of drivers within the metro-area to maximize efficiency and customer delivery responsiveness
• Monitor driver progress and adjust schedules as pick-up and delivery orders come in
• Maximize truck loads outbound and inbound
• Optimize use of overtime and outside haulers to deliver superior customer service
• As needed, support branches in maintaining customer relations via phone, making additions, cancellations, and changes regarding equipment location or delivery time
• Demonstrate commitment to safety and discipline through exemplary personal compliance, accountability and pro-active communication
• Perform all safety inspections within company and governmental policies
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• Technical knowledge of DOT/Federal Motor Carrier rules and regulations
• Diligent attention to safety
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
• Strong leadership, organization and communication skills

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
