Job description

Job Title: ARD FACILITATOR

Reports to: SSA DIRECTOR

Primary Purpose

The ARD Facilitator is responsible for coordinating, planning, and preparing compliance documents for students eligible for Special Education services. The ARD Facilitator attends ARD Meetings as deliberations/minute taker and is the individual trained to interpret evaluation data. The ARD Facilitator assists the Campus Administrator with chairing the ARD meeting.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Teaching Certificate
    • Three years teaching experience
    • Experience serving Special Education students in the classroom preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills

Effective communication skills with others as well as the ability to work collaboratively.

Ability to exercise good decision making.

Understands the function of the Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee meetings.

Willing to learn Special Education Law and Procedures.

Technology Skills

Willing to learn Special Education documentation process and online data management system.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
  1. Creates annual Admission, Review and Dismissal (ARD) meetings planning calendar for the year. Distributes annual ARD planning calendar to administrators, office staff, campus counselor, and lead Special Education Teacher at beginning of year. Collaborates to schedule all annual meeting dates/times.
  2. Ensures that federal/state timelines are met with respect to functions of ARD Committee meetings; requests for additional assessments and required timelines set by federal/state timeline requirements.
  3. Monitors ARD paperwork completed by campus personnel; completes and submits ARD paperwork within 72 hours of the meeting. Submits/locks completed documents in data management system; confirms dates on data management system.
  4. Completes required documentation and reports required by federal/state law and the SSA (e.g. IEP documents, extended school year (ESY) forms, October snapshot requirements, transition documentation, etc.).
  5. Maintains current evaluation rosters and reports referral needs (additional testing, re‑evaluation, etc.) including those for related services within 72 hours of ARD meeting. Maintains communication between evaluation personnel and related services providers.
  6. Maintains systematic communication between special and general education personnel with respect to ARD meetings and decisions, IEPs, student accommodations, and instructional concerns and progress.
  7. Completes appropriate ARD supplements and collects appropriate data (i. ESY regression documentation, individual educational plan (IEP), behavior improvement plan (BIP), transition documentation, etc.).
  8. Follows end of year procedures and submits appropriate summer program student.
  9. Assists campus administrators in maintaining compliance with all federal, state and local policy as it applies to students with disabilities. Informs SSA director of concerns or needs related to policy.
  10. Maintains thorough documentation regarding any Significant concerns with ARD committee procedures.
  11. Attends SSA teaming meetings and relevant staff development.
  12. Maintains positive relationships with SSA team, school staff, parents, and community members.
