Job summary

National Western Stock Show Archivist & Historian position is a part-time, on-site role in Denver, CO. The role preserves and interprets the organization’s history, curates exhibits, and supports education and outreach to researchers and the public.

Responsibilities include cataloging collections, answering inquiries, and developing content for publications, exhibits, and digital storytelling. A strong background in history and public history methods is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in History, Museum Studies, Library Science, Archival Studies, Public History, or related field.
• Minimum of three years of experience in archives, museums, historical societies, cultural institutions, or related environments.
• Knowledge of archival principles, collection management, preservation practices, and historical research methodologies.
• Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
• Excellent organizational and recordkeeping abilities.
• Ability to work effectively with volunteers, committees, donors, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Archive and manage historical records, photographs, artifacts, and digital collections.
• Maintain inventories and archival databases; develop standards and policies.
• Coordinate storage, preservation, and digitization of assets.
• Conduct historical research and respond to inquiries from staff and the public.
• Develop written historical content for publications, exhibits, and websites.
• Curate exhibits and coordinate educational programs and tours.
