Job summary

The HSCL Archives at the University of Florida is seeking one Student Assistant to process materials, create inventories, and write descriptions for a new collection of records and photographs. This on-campus role is open to eligible students and requires maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA.

Qualifications

• Ability to lift 40 pound boxes and stand on stools and high ladders.
• Ability to work courteously and effectively with others.
• Ability to work with attention to detail.
• Ability to follow both written and spoken instructions and procedures.
• Ability to manage time and commitments including scheduled work hours.

Responsibilities

• Create folder lists using Excel and ArchivesSpace.
• Work with archival materials by sorting, refoldering, and reboxing items.
• Barcoding and labeling collections.
• Creating descriptive data for photo collections.
• Occasionally conduct research by reviewing documents, books, and websites.
• Keep sections in order by checking collection numbers and shelving.
