Job summary

Robert Rauschenberg Foundation is seeking an Archives Assistant to support the processing, arrangement, and digitization of diverse archival materials. The role focuses on survey work, creating finding aids, and preserving backlog items while expanding access to researchers and the public.

You will collaborate with the Archives team under the Assistant Archivist and contribute to a major access and digitization initiative starting January 2027, including Born-digital materials and varied formats.

Qualifications

• Significant coursework towards or completion of an ALA-accredited Masters Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or a related field with a concentration in Archives.
• Demonstrated understanding of archival collections and principles of arrangement and description.
• Familiarity with standard archival metadata schemas (DACS, Dublin Core, EAD) and controlled vocabularies.

Responsibilities

• Survey, arrange, describe, preserve, and digitize archival and manuscript collections of varying formats.
• Perform basic rehousing and preservation tasks for fragile materials.
• Create DACS-compliant finding aids for ArchivesSpace and related systems.
• Digitize archival materials and manage metadata per policies.
