Job summary

The University of Rochester offers a semester-long internship in the Special Collections and Archives. You will gain hands-on archival processing experience, arrange and describe a collection, and create a finding aid in ArchivesSpace, while also building a digital collection through curating, digitizing, and metadata creation.

You will promote your work via blogs and social media and collaborate with Miner Library’s communications team. High school diploma required; MLIS preferred.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required.
  • Enrolled in a credit-bearing internship/practicum preferred.
  • MLIS degree or related program preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Process the Visiting Nurses Association of Rochester, NY papers for preservation and create a DACS-compliant finding aid in ArchivesSpace.
  • Curate a digital collection from historical ephemera for addition to New York Heritage.
  • Digitize items following NY Heritage guidelines and create metadata.
  • Promote the work via blog posts and social media in collaboration with the library's team.
  • Perform other archival duties as assigned.
