Archives Coordinator

The Archives Coordinator supports, facilitates, and promotes thematerials, activities, and goals of the University Archives andSpecial Collections.

Job Description
Typical duties may include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinates collections care activities, including updating,organizing, maintaining, and providing access to physical anddigital collections.
  • Assists with curatorial research and coordinates theinstallation and deinstallation of exhibitions and displays.
  • Coordinates and prepares materials for exhibitions, displays,and external loans.
  • Provides reference services, research assistance, and tours tofacilitate user access and use of UASC collections andresources.
  • Supports and coordinates instruction sessions and communityengagement activities.
  • Maintains the UASC website and archival content managementsystems to promote and provide access to UASC resources forstudents, staff, faculty, and community members.
  • Oversees, plans, coordinates, and evaluates departmental eventsand programs.
  • Collects, analyzes, and reports assessment data to supportdepartmental planning and continuous improvement.
  • May hire, train, and/or supervise interns and/or OPS andstudent staff.
  • Coordinates departmental technology, equipment and supply needsto support daily operations.
  • Participates on committees, working groups, and outreachinitiatives on behalf of the department as needed.
Other Job Duties:
  • Documents and maintains procedures, policies, and workflows forUniversity Archives and Special Collections.
  • Supports departmental records management.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
  • This position requires either four years of directly relatedfull-time experience or, as alternative, a Bachelor's degree froman accredited institution in an appropriate area ofspecialization.
  • Relevant experience related to the job functions.
  • Experience operating a personal computer and proficient withMicrosoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience,and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Archival, public history, or museum experience.
  • Project/office management, event coordination, or communityengagement experience.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Acrobat,etc.)
  • Experience working in a higher education setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Proven ability to think strategically and approach challengeswith creativity.
  • Demonstrated track record of reliability, meeting goals, andholding oneself accountable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working effectivelyacross teams.
  • Knowledge of policies, procedures, and regulations pertainingto the position.
  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize andcomplete simultaneous projects within deadlines.
  • Skill in using logic and reasoning to identify the strengthsand weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approachesto problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communicationsskills.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, apply, and explain librarypolicies and procedures.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with staff,faculty, students, and the community in a service-orientedenvironment.
  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team andindependently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to provide professional service.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights and weekends asnecessary.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials that weigh at least30 pounds.
